Sassafras has had an infection in her great toe for over two weeks. We have been treating it the best we can with imput from her doctor at home. It has not improved. She tried to hike out today and was lethargic and got sick to her stomach. After talking with my wife we have decided to go home. Sassafras says she does not feel well is tearful and is ready to go home. It hurts me so bad to see her like this. We will fly home tomorrow and evaluate our options after she sees her doctor. I hope for a speedy recovery! I was checking in daily on your quest. Sad it had to end but happy she can get the treatment she needs! Great job!

ReplyDeleteAwe, cheer up Sassafras. You should be so proud of what you have accomplished by making it from Georgia to NY. You and your Dad will finish it, maybe not right away but you will not leave it undone! You have had so many people, young and old, around the country and world, following your journey; not just on the trail but in raising awareness for hunger in our communities. You have made a difference! So, go home, rest and heal. Know that you are an amazing inspiration, and that no matter what you do you will make a difference in this world.
