Day 114 going home

I am on a bus going home to Maine. I have been on the trail almost four months and hiking without Sassafras is not what I want to be doing at rhis time in my life. I wanf to be home with my family. The separation has been hard on both my wife and I.

I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I apologies if I have let anyone down. Kaboose

  1. Its a hike- the mountain will continue to be there, family is what is important. It takes a self-less person to put their family first. You don't hear of too many good folks now a days!

  2. Kaboose you have not let anyone down who counts. You have done an awesome thing taking this journey with Sassafras, and taking care of her when she needed taking care of. It's time to take care of you now, and do what you need. Safe travels.

  4. Congrats on completing your adventure! I'm sorry it ended sooner than you expected- what the two of you completed was amazing and you surpassed your goal of raising awareness on hunger. I wish Sassafras a speedy recovery and hope to see you all soon!

  5. Just wanted to say how impressed I am by your daughter and you as well. I enjoyed hearing about your adventure and felt like I was on the trail with you instead of teathered to my desk when I would read your updates. There is plenty of time to finish the trail - you are on no one's schedule but your own. Enjoy your summer! :)

  6. I enjoyed your blog and wish I had the opportunity to take my kids on such a big adventure. We had our adventures and have those memories, but nothing on the scale of your trip with Sassafras. Congrats!.

  7. Do you feel good about your decision? Then don't worry about letting anyone down. Congratulations for figuring out your priorities. Your family comes first and your heart and brain have come to an agreement. Thank you for letting us take a peek into your lives for over the past four months. It has been better than watching anything on Japanese television. Take a rest and enjoy the summer. You deserve it!

  11. What a great adventure that you have been on. I have followed the blog from the beginning. To have a fantastic journey together is a wondrous gift that you both must cherish. Rather on a map you completed your path or not you ACCOMPLISHED what you needed to, appreciating each other. I wish you all blessed journeys!!

  12. Through the ticks and the mosquitos of New Jersey and the freezing rains of Georgia, I have enjoyed following you. I am writing a murder mystery/psychological thriller entitled Trail Killer. It starts at The Doyle in Duncannon. If you ever have time I'd love to connect with you and hear more about it. theproximian@yahoo.com
